993 Macpherson VS. T1 Macpherson VS. T1 W/Coils
 
I'm curious which setup to go with: 993 Macpherson, T1 Macpherson, or Std. with coil overs (not Red9).

What are the main differances between these three setups besides the obvious, frame head, and also well duh Russ it's made by porsche it has to handle better. It seems like the Macpherson setups are very similar.

Or, am I wasting my time by switching to these setups and should I stay with the Std., torsion arms, through rods and coil overs?

I dont mean to patronize you, but. . . . are you an engineer? For something of this scale i would consider consulting with a mechanical engineer, to sort out how you are going to mount and assure alighnment of the subframe.

Getting to your question:
What are your plans for the car?
If you want an ultimate race car to rival a new 997 then go with the 993 parts.
If you want an incredible street setup, you could probabaly use a strengthened and highly modified stock macpherson suspension design.

For a frame...I would probably go with a full tube chassis....it'll be more cost efficient in the end than having to custom everything to "work"......

In the end, it'll be stiffer, more secure and maybe even lighter.....think, sandrail with a bug shell on it....yeah....insane....

The car will primarily be used for street for the next year or so until they get finished with the road racing track 30 mins away from my house. Thats the reason why i'm going overkill on everything.

Brakes: 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo 6 pots front and rear.

Transmission: 6 speed G50

Motor: 550 hp Ecotec

Suspension: Rear - 993 Multi-link; Front - in homework stages.

That's the idea, i'm gonna be using the tunnel and thats about it, I just don't want to worry about the body mounts.

I'm making 1" X 1.5" box tubing or whatever fits in the channel where the body bolts go and then a 14 point cage tieing into the front struts, to the rear struts, the transmission mounts, and then the motor mounts, so I think the car will be plenty stiff.

The frame head for a super is $300 then the control arms and the struts and so on and so on. I can get the whole front suspension from a 993 spindle to spindle with stuts for $800 (then lanner will have another project [aka more cayenne stuff]). So I think the Supa is out. Unless some one can persuade me otherwise. My girlfriend is tired of hearing about it and so are my friends. I need to join a club...wait Germanlook is the only club on the planet that understands my GL disease! Thanks guys for your input. Keep it comming I still need to know if the Supa will do what i'm looking for.
