Bug Jam Hotel Info

Here is the info for The Bug Jam Hotel that the BK and West GA. folks will be booking. It is a new Hotel that was built next to the one we used in 2003. I would book early as it will fill quickly.

Best Western Summer Crest
5639 Oakley Boulevard
Wesley Chapel, Florida, United States
813-345-2000
$66

I didn't see this hotel listed in the event info I printed out. (May have missed it.) When one calls, do you specify "Bug Jam participant" or something? Do you think there is a price difference for a room for three (wife, daughter & enthusiast)?

yellow73 September 30th 2005 19:37

I mentioned Bug Jam and they gave me the reduced rate.

Cool. Thanks!

I have printed my MapQuest maps. I have my wife's and daughter's plane tickets. I have my hotel reservations.

The only thing left for me to do is enter Bug Jam. I have three questions since car shows are new to me.

(1) Should I enter as Class C-2 (Super Bug, All years, custom) or Class M-8 (Daily Driver, 1969-on, custom)?

It's not like I'm going to win or anything. I know in the latter category the undercarriage will not be judged and cars can't be trailered (hopefully, not an issue ;) ). Is there anything else I need to consider?

(2) VolkSport Käfer Gruppe is going to be my listed "Club Affiliation," right?

(3) My wife and daughter may come separately (later) to Bug Jam. Is there a place for them to park the rental?

I decided on the "daily driver" class since that is what it is. I'm not particularly interested in entering it into a beauty contest of sorts but I guess it is the best way of getting into a show. Besides, I get cranky when I lose.

It'll be in the Top Five of the oasis choice awards -- I can tell you that right now. ;)

yellow73 October 28th 2005 23:21

I entered in the daily driver class also...

oasis October 29th 2005 16:21

I checked my paperwork. I sent the one in for "Custom, Supers, All Years" after all. I guess it doesn't really matter until I get within sniffing distance of winning.

You are right sir. It's all about having fun and giving folks something to look at. I don't think I could jam another trophy on the mantel at my house but I never built the car or went to a VW gathering for that. It's all about having fun and talking smack.

Good. I'll be tied for first in that category. :)

I entered the daily driver custom super class. The super last saw fresh paint 20 yrs ago. Its got as couple "spots/cracks".

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Later,
Pete
