Need advice on an electric fuel pump?
 
I hate to keep asking questions. I have a 69 bug with 1915 engine. Dual 34 carbs, with future plans for 40's and was wondering what the best electric fuel pump for this engine would be. Some say just go to NAPA Auto parts and buy their generic electric pump for $35. Let me know your thoughts, my engine is starving.

Im running a weber fuel pump on my 1776 with weber 40's and its fine up to 7200 rpm.
you could go with a holley red or a holley blue and a pressure regulator

If I were to use a Holley Pump w/ regulator what PSI would I set it to for my car. I read its preset is pretty high around 14 PSI. And I was told the bug runs 3 PSI.

Napa's generic fuel pumps are the faucet pumps that 90% of people(w/ electric fuel pumps) run in their weber'd vee duds. Make sure you get the one for the 3psi, weber's hate too much pressure. You might want to check to make sure that your floats are set right. If that doesn't fix it jetting might be why it feels like your engine is starving.

I must agree with Supa Ninja since thats the common rule, just forgot to mention it. The reason for getting the regulator is the one stated by Supa Ninja. The reason i those to go with a weber pump is thats designed for those kid of pressures (weber carb requirements) and i didnt need to use a regulator.

One issue thought:

On modern cars If you could hear the pump, it would be working when you turned the ignition ON and stop when the floats are full. In my case the pump wont stop. Now, its could be a cirquitry prb( relay needed) ar thats the way they work, or it could damage my carbs?

I would suggest a CB Performance rotary pump. They are pre-set at 3.5 lbs, quiet and reliable. I have friend running one in his drag cars with 48IDAs. No need to spend the extra $$$ on a Holley red pump and regulator for your application...

i have a holley black that came with my nitrous kit. i have the regulator for the carb side and it is set for between 3-3.5 lbs of pressure and it is almost at the end of its adjustment. also remember there is a difference between volume and pressure. i also have my fuel pump wired to a toggle so i can start the car then hit the toggle to turn on the pump.
