944 rear axle?sway bar?
Okay you guy did this to me, I was happy just having discs and drums with stock wheels.
Now my project is officially crossed over into GL. Over the weekend I picked up complete early aluminum arms with single pot brakes (944 85.5') springplates and torsion arms master cylinder 15 x 7 phone dials with tires space saver spare all for $400 Now should I have taken the axles and CV's? will they work? right length? I have a 1303 gearbox with stock flanges on a 69' standard pan. So can I run the 944 CV's and axles on the arms and the T1 CV's on the box ? and should I have taken the stock swaybar too? I know I have to make mounts on the pan for that, then I have to run the 944 springplates. There needs to be a sticky with all the 944 swap info in the forums somewhere. I have spent hours looking through threads. Thanks Mark |
you should have taken the drive shafts and CVs, as the shafts for the aluminium arms are longer than the stock VW ones. You can run type 1 CVs on the inner end of the shafts and 944 CVs on the outer end, no problem.
