Coilover problem

Hello
I'm quite new in this forum, but I have had my 1302S -72 since 1998. The car have change look several times during the years. Now I'm rebuilding it again
I have learnd by doing, but it is not nessesary to do all the misstakes
myself and this forum have helped me from doing some of them.
Now to the coilover problem
I have built a front coilover from a Porsche 944N/A strut witch i have shortend, and I use a Golf(Rabbit) ver1 damper. Then I bought a coilover kit for a Honda CRX and mounted thogether. It works well.
Reacently I was able to buy a front and rear end from a 944 T. The only
thing is that bottom mountings for the front strut arenot the same 944NA
20mm wide and 58mm between the holes. 944 T 18mm wide and 63mm between the holes.
The dimeter for the 944N/A strut is 42mm and the diameter for the 944T
54mm.
Do anybody know where to get a coilover kit for 54mm struts?

hey, dunno if this helps but on old ford capris they cut thread into the strut itself. never seen 944t strut myself so no idea how thick they are but maybe option. didn't porsche do a coil over for the 944 anyway?

Thanks,
I will look for the capri struts and see if I could cut them in pices and weld in the threads.

The reason for not using Porsche coilovers is that it dosent lower the car so much I want. With the Golf damper I shorten the leg ~80 mm and the damper have a better working range.

ok, was thinking today bout this, soooooo busy at work. why not jus weld the turbo mounting plates onto the struts you got? or onto any strut for that matter

On my car I bought a weld-on threaded tube to convert to coilovers. However, with a 54mm diameter tube my maths says the tube wouldn't fit. So I'm with 1303R on this one.

Hello
I have thougt about it during the weekend. And I will try to use the lower end of the 944 T stut and weld it thogether with the upper end of a 1302strut. I will come back with some puctures if it works.
