We passed this 'trailered' 996 (hence no licence plate), but I must admit that the instructor was driving and I am sitting next to him with my nails in the dashboard! he was extremely complementary about the handling and didn't want to leave the seat for most of that session and I didn't mind.

Sweet !

Which engine are you running Wally .. can't remember if it was the 2056 ?

When can we see the video ?

Thanks for sharing. :agree:

Sandeep

Your welcome Sandeep!
Sorry, no video has been made this time, other than the one I made of an original porsche 550 spider that drove of..

Yes, its still the 2056, but it will be removed coming weekend and big updates will be made!
Tomorrow the 2056 will be dyno'd again to see what my changes this winter did (Ti retainers, Scat single T1 springs and lightenend intake valves; also Dry-sump and a hone job with new rings was done.
It feels to make more rpm more easily and I could run a bit higher top speed, so it should have a few ponys more...very curious. I also want to test a different total advance setting and a run without the porsche fan attached

I'll let you know the results ;)

Hi Wally

Have you always had the rear wing on the car? Did you notice any improvement with it?

Steve

Wally, let me know how that 1 7/8 Chris Foley header fits around the cross member using the 915 tranny. ;)

No,only recently. I am quite confident it gives better downforce and/or aerodynamics as I had a better top speed, but not more hp
It does really feel more stable at high speeds tho, that really is noticeble.

Dyno testing did give very interesting results, especially the timing advance differences were remarkeble. No higher hp however, even a few less, but tuning was off as lambda values were too high as it turned out and no time ($$) to correct it.

That really looks like fun! I hope I get some similar opportunity some day. The pics were fantastic. I liked how the lead grew over the blue Porsche from Pic 1 to Pic 2. :D Thanks for sharing.

You're very welcome.
I all honesty I must also mention that after about 6 laps he got the hang of it how we drove the circuit lines and passed us with his 300 hp on the straight ;)
The porsche boys were nice about it though and we chatted about brakes, tires and gearboxes some afterwards. They were surprised to see my EFI-ECU behind the front seat and sort-of gave me the 'aha!' comment :D

how much wider are those rear wings/fenders? they are obviously flared on the outside, but are they widened on the inside too?

car looks great BTW! :)

Wally April 18th 2007 15:12

Rear 3cm inner and 4 cm outside
Front only +3cm outside (lip) ;)

trevorbrady April 18th 2007 16:26

I have the same rear spoiler and can confirm this..

Thanks for the confirmation Chris!
Did you also have to make your own middle pedastal? I had to add that one as the horizontal plane vibrated badly above 70 mph and I just noticed it in my rear view mirror.. Now its rock stable.
