You can't just slap a type 4 on a type 1 trans...
You can't just slap a type 4 on a type 1 trans and not have problems. There are a couple of things you will need to do and keep in mind, I am using a Porsche trans so I don't remember all the tricks...

If you use a 2 psi residual pressure valve it...
If you use a 2 psi residual pressure valve it should not cause the pads to drag. I think if your MC resivour is well above the calipers, like in the trunk the head pressure should make it work ok...

After sitting for 10 years, it would be prudent to at least pull the heads and have a look at the cylinders. A carb rebuild, oil change, tune up would be the minimum if the engine is ok internally....
