The max I could get was still only between 3,5...
The max I could get was still only between 3,5 and 4 degrees, which is still 2 degrees shy of my goal. I can't do anything more at the top of the strut though, so the rest must come from the bottom....

I think all engines should have steel backed...
I think all engines should have steel backed bearings btw ;-).
Originally only the center mains are steel backed as you know and the Mahle bearings I ran have steel center main backed bearings....

Yeah, thats why I was interested: I now use 944 shocks (Koni yellow) and they have their (shortenend) bump stop about the same time as my (also shortenend) trailing arm bump stops. Its a good match...

Alu arms are wider in general as you know, but the CV sits even further in the arm, making the shaft itself relatively longer then the increase in track width would suggest. Hence never a clearance...
