Welcome to the forums.
When I had my 1600 in my bug, I had the same problem. I tightened the oil cap and still had the same problem.
I took a good look at the oil cap and what I found was it tightened by hand to a certain point, and then I had to press down and turn and it tightened another 180 degrees (half a turn).
This solved my oil leak problem at the cap.
