The X is stamped in the same script as the rest of the serial number. It looks like the characters in the number came from the same set of stamps, but numbers like that are easy to copy.

If it's not a 2 ltr, what should it displace originally? It has obviously been apart, and back together, and probably still has stock pistons, and cylinders, but I won't know actual displacement until I can measure bore and stroke.

...And if it's not a 2 ltr, can I make it into one fairly easily? (2 litre crank, pistons/cylinders, flycut the heads) It wouldn't be right
to have a 1.8 Type I, and a 1.7 Type IV in the driveway!:silly:
