Re: front discs
Hello-
If you already have stock disc knuckles in front, bolt on some
1978-1983 BMW 320i calipers.
They won't work...
The 320i, like the Porsche 914, the Type 4, and the very late Type 3 (72-73), has a 76mm bolt spacing for the calipers. However, the Type 1 has ~2.25" (not sure of exact number).
The Talbot Horizon, available only in Europe, has the same bolt pattern, but is slightly larger. I've tried scouring junkyards, and found that some old BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo cars also have this smaller size, but they were only used for rear calipers and so the pistons are even smaller than Type 1.
Type 1 pistons are 40mm. Type 3, Type 4, and Porsche 914 are 42mm (some say that if you can find _original_, unreplaced 66-71 Type 3 calipers, they are 42mm and bolt up). BMW 320i is 48mm. I'm not sure what the Talbot Horizon has.
Take care,
