No, not from a 1700/1800 to a 2000 engine or vice versa. Its usually a tight fit. It has to do with the difference in stroke (5 mm) and therefore the 2000 is the wider engine. But also the rods are longer on the 2000 engines, so the difference may be a few mm's more. Like I said, the 1800 measurement wasn't that accurate...
I understand your T3 -> T4 exhaust conversion better when I also looked at my old wbx engine: the wbx has a type 4 (style?) muffler as well and the pipes from the heads are type 1 similar!
I guess you have got the wbx exhaust manifolds then, which would fit the type 1/3 heads easily. You won't have heating then anymore, but you probably know that. Not a bad idea tho!
