I'm doing what your doing... putting a 1600, till the T4 is more a reality.

with a higher cr your going to need to invest more money at the start, like new pistons and rings, at least. HI cr will obviously rais temps, so why used tired stock pistons. Plus if you do go higher you, like mentioned, will need a new cam, like an engle 100, or spend a little more and go with the Webcam equivilent.

I'm going with an SVDA dizzy, from ac.net, with dual 40idfs, big carbs for a 1600, but built down to suit. Anyway, the svda, has vac advance, which practically eliminates hesitation from idle, a common problem with the 009.

Build it for realistic driving situations. If you see yourself in a lot of traffic, or drive long distances often, keep it stock cr, you want this motor to last till that T4 is ready right!!!???

I bought german pistons/cylinders, new stock heads (de burred, mild port and polish, matched intakes) had the case tapped for full-flow, just looking for a good used c/w crank and need to get a cam, svda, etc....

any way, just my thoughts...
