I just got a quote on painting my '69 Beetle for $3,500 (on the high side), which includes stripping it down to bare metal, blocking out the entire body, shooting all visible painted surfaces inside and out, and re-hanging/aligning the doors. This is coming from a shop that just finished painting an original owner '67 Shelby Mustang that appraised for over $150K at Barrett-Jackson

, so I feel pretty good about having them paint mine

. To give you an idea of what they are starting with, the car is gutted to the shell and there is no rust or significant body work required. I'm running CCC fiberglass fenders, hood and decklid so that cut down on some of the prep time. Pictures of it are in the "Project" section of my website.
