you should gain more like 1.5 inches by shortening the pan. thats about 4.5 inches. I had about 2.5 clearance to the headers, drove it like that for awhile, but eventually had to raise it up a lil. now i have about 4-4.5. I feel its plenty of room if you have decent roads. I also have 29mm torsion bars.
