I figured since 92, cars/trucks have grown rather large, so yeah I guess you could say personal safety was the motivating force!!!
The hoop isnt attached to the body other than at the bottom plate/boxes...
Same with the door bars, they tie to the mounting box/pan as well.
The downtubes do in fact tie into the frame horns....As for weight, Im not sure, it is steel, so it is pretty heavy, I would guess maybe 100-150lbs total???
Not for sure though....
