Rebuilding a T4 1.8 with so many ?'s

I am currently rebuilding a 1.8 out of a 411/412. I have so many questions and dont know where to start!

First off, I have the entire engine dissamsembled.

Here are my goals for the engine:
1. Want to try and keep it as reliable as possible!
2. Want to make it a mild performance engine (130-150 HP)
(dont know how possible it is)
3. Want to do it within a reasonable price.

What I have learned so far...
I can go with the 96mm pistons that are still slip-ins and require no machining. However, the ones I found are the KB's and are $525. Just a little out of my range.
Are there some somewhere that are less expensive? So far, I have only spoken with Jake Raby.
Also, does anyone know where I can find a shroud that has been converted? The DTM is the one I would really like, but runs $600.
How much money am I looking at in the long run, to get this engine in my car?

Pretty much I am looking for any information that can help me out! I am a college student and working 45 hours a week. I have fallen victim to the VW addiction and just have a desire to keep on making mine better! All advice is welcome.
