Safe internet buying...

I want to buy a set of wheels and tires I found on a used wheel/tire site (xrims.com). How in the world do you insure any kind of safe transaction???
This particular site, along with a lot of forum based sell areas, doesn't have any sort of seller history to look at. No way to check up on the seller (or buyer). You can't just send a money order out and hope you don't get hooked for a couple grand. Paypal is even scarier than sending cash in an envelope... I looked at bidpay, dunno. I guess the only way is through one of these two places that let you use a credit card and if you get ripped, you can usually reverse charges. I've already had to do that once through Paypal and the fallout was incredible, that Paypal account is still frozen from YEARS ago and we ended up having to cancel the card because Paypal kept trying to reclaim the money EVEN though I proved I had been ripped on some junk wheels.
Scammers s-u-c-k!
