I have a Sharpbuilt on a 2.7lt type 4.I do not understand what you mean about the oil thermostat.Mine was fairly easy to fit and it was very well made.I have the one with the air duct to the oil cooler in the original position.I have found that this system by itself does not cool the oil good enough.I have a friend with the same system on a 2lt Type 4 and he has fitted 4 head temp sensors and all is OK there-but the oil is a problem.I'm wondering if the crank pulley was a bit bigger-it may be better.I am going to get one machined up to try.I used a sandwich plate under the oil filter and used another Type4 cooler behind the back wheel with a Bus heater assist fan, which is switched on by the ECU at 95c and it cuts out at 80c.It's been in the high 30'sC/low 40'sC here for a fortnight and I have been using it a bit and the oil temps are looking good now.If I was doing it again-I would use a big cooler and do away with the one in the original position.
