If you look how it mounts with that plate, when you rotate the shift rod through the left / right plain the shift rod rotates over the subaru shift rod and is hardly presise.

I am supporting the end of the rod, then running two small universals with a diagonal shaft to bring them together.

In a suby trans install, the shift rod on the trans is about 2 inches off centre.

Ours seams to be working realy good.... I don't see it as a band aid and it works smooth... But you just keep putting and over thinking simple things....
