hi,

alot of things have changed in the past couple weeks. Alex's decision to sell his car has turn everything upside down for me.
so here's the deal. I bought his split PURELY on impulse, and dove right in knowing that I was probably paying a little more than what I was preppared to spend. Not to mention putting myself in a financial situation where I will be broke for awhile. i want to see the car done, and would have always regreted not buying, would have hated to see it go overseas.
i hope and feel that i made the right decision. so i will be putting my 2332 in the split.

so now, the '72 super is sitting with no motor. how can i recover some $$$?
anyone interested in parts? a roller?

pete

:righton:

Pete, You now have the most BADDEST bug known ... That chassis with your 2332 .... KILLER. Congratulations !

I was seriously considering buying the body/pan/tranny.

Why don't you get a stock 1600cc engine, install it and sell it as a package ? It looks great to me !

Sandeep

I see now. I'm glad you kept the Split in the community. :agree:
I like Sandeeps idea. Find a quick cheep used Type-1 and stuff it in and sell it. Then again, many times you can get more by parting out the High Perf. stuff. If you have the stock stuff you can swap it out abd then have a stock bug to sell or use for a daily driver.
Good luck with your new project.

super glad you bought the split. i was hoping it would stay in the family. hopefully you don't end up living out of it.

if you need quick dollars, go with Sandeeps idea. you will be able to get the big dollars in quicker that way.

if you have the time, part it. you will get more dollars, but slower and run the risk of the left overs and taking a bath on those.

personally, i would probably go with option one just to be done with it and have all of the attention on the new addition.

I am pretty happy too that Pete bought the car.....I will see it finished and get a drive in it.....and I can still offer my help.

Guys.....after Pete left my house yesterday and was extremely sad but I still think I did the right decision even though it was extremely hard. I will still be around.....I am not going to be a stranger now......friends will stay friends hopefully....and I still have lots of material for the site as well that is not posted yet.

Alex

I feel better hearing that. I would put a 1600dp and sell it like that. Then split lives on.

if you want i have a short block 1600 no top end but if you have some stock parts you could slap together a motor pretty quick.

my 1600 is complete, ready to install. i just ripped it out a while back and put it in the corner of my garage. might need a header, QP exhaust. all it needs is a fuel line, throttle, and redo the electrical (generator, coil). i hope i can still figure that part out since it was chopped when the EFI went in.

what i need is a stock IRS tranny, driveshafts/cv's, stub axles. maybe rubber mounts 'cause it's solid mounted.

Pete,

Happy to hear you bought Alex's car. Good job.

Like said before, you can probably get more $$ if you sell all the parts,
however, it will be less hassle to sell the whole thing.

Anyway, I still have a practically new header lying in my garage.
Let me know if you need it.

Rob.
