I have read in several different sources that 944 rotors will crack when used with 951 calipers. However, I have also read that 944 rotors will work with 986 calipers.

The calipers are from a boxster I think.

Yes, 986 is Boxster. So I've read, their rotors are more comparable to the thickness of the 944 rotors thus the caliper doesn't stress them too much. This was 944 cars (not Bugs) with the 986 calipers and also keep in mind that these calipers are radial not axial mounted.
