to many choices, which brakes
ok im new to the brake systems. the rest of my car is planned out. but which brake system to use?
i want something easy to adapt and be mindful of a budget. i would like a kit of some sort. i want be road racing , maybe some drag racing. i will be using it as a daily driver. i plan on having a 1776 turbo engine. i want disks. and will be running the new jetta 17x7 longbeach rims. i will have to get my disks redrilled for the correct lug pattern. what should i use? neil |

i like the 944 setup and the cbperformance setup also. i dont know which is more costly , but that doesnt matter as ill do the safest. im leaning to the 944, but is there a way to adapt to the new jetta bolt pattern?
also, if i need to replace a rotor, can you easily get them from cb as all i see is in kit form. i had a 91 trooper and i warped all 4 rotors as i was driving hard, braking hard and going through deep water. so whats the chance i can warp these rotors 944 or cb. i guess im asking which is better for longevity of replacement? neil |

Neil,
If you want a "kit" you will have to go with the CB brakes. I am sure they will sell you just a rotor if you have a problem or need a service replacement in the future. The 944 conversions will give better braking but they are not a kit, you need to round up the parts and make it work. Not too difficult but if you are not mechanicaly inclined, stat with a kit. Cost for the CB kit and a 944 conversion is about the same if you pick up your 944 parts used and rebuild them (watch ebay), new Porsche parts will be very expensive. ken |

you can also go with a Kerscher kit too if you want to run a different pattern then Porsche wheels.

tar-ox brake kits
yep tar-ox make kits for supers all you need to do is email them with what you want on their contact page on the web site. somebody who they think is close to you will get in touch and you pay them. the company i had to go through were Die Kafer Service in Italy and all i had to do was tell kirsten; the girl who conacted me, exactly what i wanted she gave me a price and i sent her the money and within two weeks i had myself a gnarly set of red callipers with vented discs which sit straight on in place of the original callipers. they are still in the box though as of yet but as soon as they are on i will post a picture up. there is a picture of a 1303 cab on the tar ox website if you are interested just click on the demo cars tab, scroll to volkswagen beetle and click and you will get a lovely pic of a super and a close up of the wheel and callipers. enjoy

Yeah, I saw the demo car. It's nice to hear that there is another big brake option out there.
Do you know if your brake kit makes the track any wider than stock? That's a big factor for me. As you can tell, I am REALLY interested in this. Hey, do you have any pics of the brakes?

tarox
they dont make the track any wider if you opt for the standard discs but if you want vented it will only increase the track by about 5 mm if you want i wil email you the pics and show the difference between standard discs and vented.

they are not too badly priced as i said before the callipers pads discs and the braided hoses and the bearings came to €700 which i imagine is about the same in dollars the pads are available from around €20 per pair so they are pretty reasonable i think. but then again a fool and his money...
