Bumper problem
Can I use a 72's bumper bracket with 73 bumpers? They don't seem to fit right. Especially on the front. The holes don't line up. Do I need a different bracket? Rear brackets seem way off too. The holes line up, but then the brackets point in at a "v".
Help!!!!!!

How much are they off by? If you can, you could probably weld the hole up and re-drill some in the correct location...I dont know about the back, but I guess you could try the same thing?

They all use completeley dif set ups...
Esp. the 74 and up...holes for the shock absorbent bumpers.. 73's "look" the same but most use the the standard bumper set up... 71-72 should be identical...so 73 could be the odd man out? tough question.... Rather than welding up the fenders couldn't you just make a spacer of some sort? I'm adapting my front bumper bolt holes on my '74 to fit a couple of fog lights and then just meshing over the holes.Try making some bolt-on adaptor plates to attach the bumper brackets to. Sounds like that'd be easier and cheaper to adapt than messing w/ the fenders... Also...a bit easier to "reverse" if you mess up... Just an idea. |
