Which front hubs to use?

I see some are sleeving the VW spindle to allow use of the 944 front hubs. Are there any other hubs out there that would be a good starting point for a mod like this (either modifying the spindle, or modifying the hub, or a little of both), rather than making one from scratch? What about one of the Wilwood hubs (or similar) for a Mustang2 front end like all the street rodders use? There are a boatload of brake kits available for the Mustang2 front.

I want a Chevy pattern, vented rotors, Wilwood calipers.

I know about the VDub Engineering stuff, which is very nice, and is still a good option if I need it, but I have friends who are machinists that I could trade work with and maybe save some $$ if I can piece together a good kit as a starting point.

Thanks!
