Clutch Cable tube
I'm putting together my first beetle and the guy I bought it from said that I should cut into the tunnel to weld a bolt or something onto the clutch cable tube. He said he's seen them break loose and every time you step on the clutch the tube hits the wall of the tunnel and is very annoying. Since I haven't read anything about that and didn't find any information I thought I'd ask if anyone on here has done it or thinks its necessary. Thanks

It is a very common problem. The tube is held by a small tab that is not very strong. You will have to cut a hole in your tunnel on the passenger side right behind the e-brake. Will have to check later (when I get home) to double check distance and hole size though.
