Wrong shocks ?

So I started putting on my new shiny shocks.....
After a battle trying to get the old shock off, I noticed that the bottom spacer on the new shock is shorter than the original one...wtf ?

Did I get the wrong shocks ?
Can I just fill the space with washers ?

And no, the other end of the shock does not have a wider spacer either
