Question guestions about Germanlook parts

I posted this in the engine forum but got only 1 answer, arong forum I guess, so here it goes again.

Is it possible to buy one car to use as a donor vehicle? To get the parts such as brakes, suspension, engine, tranny, and other bits and pieces?

Thanks for the help. If it matters the car I am working on is a 1972 1302.

Justin

No big deal. I've not got thre price on your stuff yet due to bad weather and the car being in the bottom of a field. Soon though...

I don't know of 1 car to get everything from. I guess if you had to pick 1 car to get the most from it would be a 914 or 912E(1976 only) but using a one year only Porsche(912E) for a donor car is like using scotch for paint thinner. You could look for a 944 for everything but the engine and trans.

as far as 914's go, you'd probly only use the engine, clutch and gear stack, maybe the guages and if its a 71-72 the shifter. Some guys use the 914 seats in their type 2's. The 914 breaks aren't worth the effort to convert over, in my opinion. But I've heard of guys using the rack and pinnion in Super's. I'd part out a 912E before parting out a 914, because the 912's 901's are sweet.
