A hood hinge solution for your 1303!!

Ok...it's more of an idea...I mentioned it on the previous thread, but this should go into more detail so...I'll need feed back on what may or may not work or what has already been tried.

Was thinking od dremmeling out the nip-ends..the little tubular bits that the hinges attach to w/ the speed nuts and putting a threaded rod of the same diameter from the left to right side down the entire length of the space behind the wiring cover... I'd attach the hinges with nuts securing them on both sides of the mount on eithe side. The bottom spring would be treated similarly, but with only bolts (one per side) Maybe even a second rod from hinge to hinge across the length outside the wiring cover from elbow to elbow on the hinges to further strengthen the connection and assure a stable motion?

First Question...I haven't looked behind the cover yet (will check it out tomorrow) IS there even room for a thin rod?
