Koni apsorbers red or yellow?

Sorry if I haven't saw answer to my question on this forum by wieving old threads

I'm in doubt, maybe someone has experience, so here's the question:

1. What is the difference between Koni red and Koni yellow?
2. Which one is better form my application and why? (puma ball joint front, 944 S alu arms rear)
3. Is there a better set of shock apsorber available?

Just to mention: I'll drive on 15 inch fuchs wheels and big tire profile, I'd like it to be comfortable. So, what's your oppinion??

Thank you in advance!

Best regards

Thank's Zen

I'll do the same, just saw the prices

What do you people think about Spax adjustable shock apsorbers (they're yellow). Is that a better choice? Price is allmoust the same...

Best regards

The Koni Sports (aka yellows) are adjustable, rebuildable, and inverted. I have them on my Subaru and I can go from a nice comfy ride on the street to a stiff and responsive ride at the local auto-x or track with the turn of a knob.

Lib,

How hard was it to do the Koni's on the scooby..

I have the spt suspension aka STI RA but they are shot.. I will run the same spring which are similiar to the pinks without the drop.. Would you say they are track worthy then..

But curious on the whole chop cut and rebuild of the strut housing..

Loaf, in all honesty I was scared to install them. I've only installed strut and sway bars, and swapped out springs before, so this strut chop and rebuild had me worried. Luckly I found a local Scooby guy that has a race shop that was willing to lend me a hand and a lift

The worst/scariest part was "releasing the pressure" in the stock struts by determining where the middle of the strut body was then drilling a hole into it. I wasn't sure if scolding hot strut oil was going to shoot out and burn my face off, or if it would just release air. The first three struts just released air, but the last one popped and I got a face full of strut oil, but it was cold thank god.

It was a major PIA to install them, but I really like them so far. I went to a track day the next morning after the install and it went great aside from my tires rubbing to the point that it got annoying. I took two laps at a time and in between the laps I cranked the struts up a quarter turn until I got to full stiff. I really liked how the car felt at and near full stiff, but I really should have upped my tire pressure at the same time.

If you have the money, I suggest getting coilovers vs the Koni w/springs setup. Don't get me wrong, I really like my new suspension, although I have to take the back seat out to adjust the rebound on the rear struts.

Thanks..

Maybe I will go with the coilovers.. Leda or similiar.. worst case I will just do the V7 Ra's again.. no flexiblity, but they are quite balanced..

Take care.
