Classic GL tuning: 2,7 Type 4
Well, because of all this Suby engine talk going on (looks almost like the conversion forum here), I thought it would be appropiate to show you the beginning of my next build-up: a 103x80 aircooled type 4 engine with classic parts and some high tech new developments used as well:
![]() Engine uses a set of unused (NOS if you like) Oettinger/Mahle Nikasil cylinders and forged mahle pistons, an old but original 80mm Oettinger (=Okrasa) forged counterweighted crank with custom 5,7" rods, 914 2,0 heads, reworked in the 'apfelbeck bat-cave' with 46x40 valves, unwelded. Type 1 ceramic cam followers and a custom grind split-duration and - lift cam. Induction is DTA EFI with 48mm Jenvey Thr.-bodys and exhaust will be a custom 4-2-1 system.
