Curious as to what's inside your 901/914?

Had some time to play... In the middle of dismantling a 914 Side Shift Tranny, borrowing some 912 parts and making it into a Bugat5speed tailshifter for the SuperBug.

Figured I host if anyone is curious. Enjoy
Alex

Now the fun part, determining how much of a rebuild to do.

Take care

FWIW - there's a guy over on the 914 club board that's doing rebuilds on 914 trannys (and probably anything similar), in PA. The deal is if you pull and send him the gear stack, he'll do a total rebuild for $300 plus parts. Pretty straightforward to pull the gear stack and cheaper to ship than a whole tranny, and you get all his knowledge and experience in getting it all done right. He does awesome work - but the parts aren't cheap. He does work with you however, and offers lots of used but very servicible parts if you want to go that way. That's how I'll be getting my 914 trans re-done, FWIW.

Great guy to work with, and knows these trannys inside and out.
