Dropping the rear
I just ordered some lowering struts for the front of my superbeetle. It is a 1972 with buggy coilovers in the rear which are set as low as theyll go. I was wondering if there is someway to lower the rear. I havent found any kits or anything for it yet ive still been seeing a whole lot of people with it done. Any help would be much appreciated.

Red 9 Design makes a spring plate kit for the back...I think it only drop 2" or so.
You can also turn the spring plate to lower the rear...though Ive heard you have a better chance at bottoming out that way...but I've never done it. You can also get a set of adjustable spring plates as well...I cant remember off the top of my head where exactly to get them. I hope that helps out some....I havent reached the suspension point yet...so those are the only options I can think of right now....Im sure there are some more out there!

Link 1 http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/sho...=rear+lowering
Link 2 http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/sho...=rear+lowering Another thing that worked for me the first timew I did it was in the Haynes manual it shows you how to adjust the rear ride height. Be careful cause it is a little dangerous and make sure you have lots of patients cause you will probally have to do it more then once to get the right height. |

Thanks alot for all the help. That was exactly what i needed. Also, i was thinking about the Uni ball setup, and it looks like a pretty sweet setup but i dont have near enough cash for it.. I was thinking about asking my boss, who is a very good fabricator, if he would be able to replicate it for me. Other than that, i think ill just have to end up sticking with the stock spring plates.
