shifty
i was thinking on my way home tonight after working on my car. i have a scat drag fast shifter i modified a little to look more like a proper german look item, BUT while its a good shifter for drag racing and shifts from 1st to 2nd then to 3rd really well, down shifting from 3rd down to 2nd seems to be difficult. so i guess thats why its called a "DRAG" fast..lol! so my question being...ill be looking for a good shifter here soon one better suited for more road racing type of shifting, what are you all running and experiences?

Do you know it the bug-tech shifter will work with a subaru trans? I think it should but I don't know if anyone has tried it yet. Also, what's the shifter going for these days?

I have not done it or had a direct report on it. Are you using the VW shift rod?

vw shift rod, planning to use the mendeola coupler with it too. as far as I've read you can use a stock shifter after removing the reverse lock out plate under it. I don't know how the reverse lock out works on the bug-tech, so I wasn't sure of compatibility.

If you look how it mounts with that plate, when you rotate the shift rod through the left / right plain the shift rod rotates over the subaru shift rod and is hardly presise. I am supporting the end of the rod, then running two small universals with a diagonal shaft to bring them together. In a suby trans install, the shift rod on the trans is about 2 inches off centre. http://www.subarugears.com/image622%20-%20Copy.jpg |

Ours seams to be working realy good.... I don't see it as a band aid and it works smooth... But you just keep putting and over thinking simple things.... |

If I was spending $435 on a high quality billet shifter, I would want the best solution for the other end of the shift rod too. I wont bother detailing the many issue one would encounter over time. Why don't you answer my question on the Samba so I can buy your product? and try to stop burning potential customers! |

To get the Bug-Tech into the reverse gate, you overcome the spring loaded bar. The spring pressure is adjustable so you can make it as easy or a hard as you want to move the bar.

Yes you can. The price for a bug shifter is 299 Euros for standard machine finish or black anodized. Plus 35 Euros for direct shipping to you in the US.

ouch, I was expecting $250-ish, but $435 including shipping is a bit steep for a shifter IMO
