944 sway bar instalation ?

On my 74 super beetle im trying to mount a early 944 sway bar.
I know i have to make some mounting brakets (will be using modifiyed 944 units)
My question is do i need to make the "arms" on the sway bars paralel to the swing plates to have correct geometry? aswell as having the drop links totaly vertical? or does it not matter?

Maybe some one can show what they did with there 944 sway bars ?

If I can get to the store tonight I will buy a digital camera and take some pictures of my setup for you. I'm pretty sure that I had the links vertical with the suspension fully compressed or have way compressed. I can't remember right now but when I put the suspension back on this week I will let you know.

Was curious if you ever got shots of your sway bar set up..

Are you using the wide alumn arms.. with an early or late 944 swaybar..

From the other springplate pics seems like you fabbed some brackets to mount the bar to the arms.. what about the torsion bar housing.. did you cut and weld the 944 brackets to the beetle torsion bar tube..

I am using the late aluminum arms. I used some 1" square tubing to make the sway-bar mounts. I than used some plate steel to build up the bushing seating surface. I tham simply ordered the stock 944 bushing clamps and hardware. Here are a few pics...

I just saw the pictures today, the mounts look cool :agree: that's a cool way you made them, with 1" square tubing. I can't wait to see the whole thing together... keep up the good work.
