993 Turbo Front Disks
I currently have 944s2 callipers and 944disks fitted to the front of my half built beetle but when I came to fit the wheels (18") you could hardly see the brakes! So I managed to get some 993 turbo brake disks cheap on eBay (which look wicked behind the 18's
) but my s2 callipers won’t quite fit over them.So do I have to get 993 turbo callipers or are there other Porsche models that will fit? The other alternative would be to file the small up stands that stop the calliper from sliding on but I'm not sure if it would still be tight or even safe!

Pinned in where? are you talking about the pad? and I think they would fit with filing but I'm not entirely sure, not taken proper measurement's yet.

Don't waste your time with the 944S2 calipers. They are designed for a 28mm thick disk and the 993T rotors are 32mm thick.
If you somehow file the S2 calipers to fit, you will only be contacting the 993T rotor with the S2 pads on maybe 3/4 of the rotor area. Why ? Get the proper 993T calipers $$$$ Sandeep |

well, any hoots the bother you will have is
-a 993 has a hat size of 72mm -a 944 is 75 -so you are 3mm short for starters -plus, the 993 disc is 305 -the other 299 -so there 3mm that may toch the caliper there refernce here http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=343584 |

Well the hats are being custom machined like in Sandeep’s article and the bigger diameter is easily overcome with a spacer for the calliper. But sandeep has a good point about the contact area. I think I will get bigger callipers. Does anybody know if the boxter S ones would be up to the job?
Also Sandeep, could you possibly supply me with the dimensions or drawings for your custom hats? It just gives me something to cross reference my cad drawings with. |
