Porsche wheels
These are the pics i got from my 18" 996 turbo split rims. BTW... these wheels have a standard offset or the offset can change as you change the pieces of the rim?

I've looked at your profile & think that you are far to young to have a set of wheels like that on your Bug... & considering that I'm in the UK & a good few years older than you, you should give them to me so I can put them on my bus....... They look great. What size tires are on them. They look like they have a huge sidewall. I don't think that you can change the off-set. I always thought that they were bolted together to save weight. Since they are made of 3 forged pieces instead of one cast piece.

thanx a lot guys
im sorry for the late respond, but i was away for easter vacations and i just got back. the front tyres are 225 40 18 and the rear are a massive 285 40 18... im planning on big Hp numbers either from a big T4 with 2 turbos or something like a wankel 2 rotor engine from a late rx7 at the moment im thinking a lot about this, cos the T4 is kind of 'stock' (aircooled flat4 etc...) and requiers alot of money, but on the other hand a wankel is much lighter, produces much more hp with less money... The major con is that its watercooled which i hate. what do you suggest btw? super diff or lsd? im running a 1776 with stock 1303 1300 gearbox during the summer i will propably make my custom front end ( mostly for track or show use) Chris

My RX-7 13B engine weighed 190 lbs when it was stripped down to the block (cube), no intake or exhaust. What does a type 4 long block weigh??? Personally I think the sound of the rotary engine is annoying when compared to the sweet sound of a flat four.

totally different powerband!!! make sure you know how you are going to use the engine and what you want out of it. a rotary (mostly from what i have read, not from experience) is only going to give you power and torque way up high. a TIV (and this is from experience) hits you starting at 2500 and you know it. cost is very different depending on what HP and torque you are looking for though no doubt.
decide what you want out of the car first and then figure out the best way to get there. otherwise you could find yourself very disappointed in the results after some very hard work and money spent. there was a rotary discussion thread over on STF that was pretty interesting. it was a month or two ago and i think it was in jake's forum or maybe euro look. you may find it helpful. |

I saw a video of a bug with an rx-7 motor. It was boiling some pretty massive rubber, doing doughnuts with ease, from a standstill repeatedly. They gotta have some power down low.
Take a type four anyday over anything though. A radiator in a bug is just...wrong. ![]()
