e brake???

i noticed that the 944 porsche disc ebrake is a lot like a drum.

But then some rear brake integrated the ebrake into the caliper itself, is there a reason for this difference?

Or is it because it was just easlier to manufacture early on? whats used on most newer cars with rear disc?

thanks
