Actually, I meant carbon fiber (fibre) or fiberglass (glass fibre).

(I also saw a Porsche-style bumper on a SB at www.superbeetlesonly.com, but I'll be darned if I could find it tonight. I had forgotten which Porsche it was a part of originally.)

PS- You asked which year. That's just it: I am researching to decide which way I will go. I realize the '68-'73 bumpers can be converted to the '74-'75 if the fenders are swapped. At the moment, I am leaning towards a purchase of a '75. But, I like all year SBs for one reason or another so ... who knows? (I am quite near the final stages of my investigation prior to purchase.)
