emergency!! 901 box in a bug pleeeeease help!!

I am using the stock porsche 901 starter motor on a 5spd. This will run into an STI engine via kennedy adapter bits. I just got my fresh trans back and have the following part number on the starter: Bosch 0-001-212-002 EB-> 12V .08PS

hey chug- a- bug, what did you do starter wise?

i have a reconditioned 1600 type 1 (actually got out of a bay, but is type 1) theres no starter in the project, which one do i need to work well? i remember someone telling me a bug one would work but you had to machine into the gearbox casing slightly to allow the starter to go in more. do i use a porsche starter or bug starter, preferably bug, as i can get my hands on one no probs.

I think I remember reading that the autostick VW and the 914 starter had the same part numbers and will work with the 200mm type 1 flyeheel.
