where abouts are you? cos im pretty sure from memory that only the US got SOHC EJ22 turbos and it was only for a couple of years in the early 90s
EJ20T are everywhere why not go with one of them? if its fitment issue SOHC heads can be retrofitted but they dont take as much boost
