Cool GL T1.

Will be watching this

@ Hebster: You can use this, simple and cheap, I've tried similar, works fine! I had them on my 1967 for two years, much better visibility

So since getting new tires, i've gone and decided to tub the front end, because it was too close to the tires and i was afraid theyd rub once the bus is full of interior.

So we went ahead and cut em out!

and since we are tubbing the wheel wells 2" the seat rails need to come up and this was how it was decided to do it...

Got done raising all the seat brackets...

Cutting an fitting...

starting to fill in the void...

this piece started out flat... kinda made a break/jig to get it this way...

here it is tacked in place

the whole front tacked into place after making a few more "fun" pieces...

decided to change a few things around on top so it lines up better...

pretty much it for the pass side... still have a lot of finishing work to do...

Ahhh... the memories. From tubbing my bus to having to remove the bolt from bottom coilover mount to get the wheel off. Good Times!

Your project is really coming together!

So......... it seems I've forgotten to mention this, but I Have acquired a Turbo for this project. In light of this I have decided to upgrade my trans and sold the type 1 IRS box. Now I'm on the lookout for a Porsche trans. If you know of anything, let me know please! Also, since I'm looking for said trans, I've also decided to use the aluminum arms I originally bought for this project and move the IRS pivot brackets inboard. This will require cutting out out the framehorns and 'hoop' I put in and fabbing a front and rear mount for the drivetrain. No biggie, its just metal right?

Your bus will be a sweet ride. You might want to consider this kit:

In England these guys have gained a lot of respect.

Holy **** that's awesome! However It probably wouldn't work on my bus as I raised the steering box...... and at £790, that's pretty pricey for steering. If anything I'll ditch the beam and go with a Porsche set up....

Try to find a combo gauge with oil temp, that would make cluster even more awesome!

That's what a friend suggested. I need to find a matching boost gauge to add in the top center too.
