The sleeving on my cable wasn't good enough to release the mechanism so I decided to get rid of the whole set up and went with some leather hood straps I made out of two old belts. Works great and gets a lot of compliments (it's like an old Ferrari, Porsche, etc. people say
 ). Excuse the rusty hood, don't have the budget or time or patience to repaint the whole car.
