He is talking about the brass gear (I hope ) The gear between dizzy and brass gear is the pinion drive gear.

Hi, thanks for the link, I am referring to the pioion drive gear. We already had the brass gear on the crank, but before installing the pinion drive gear; I was trying to adjust/setup the endplay.

I noted excessive crank endplay, after I installed the distributor drive pinion shaft/gear, I was able to adjust/set endplay.
