1st in class
I won my class on the weekend with the Porsche club, finished 26th overall out of 55 cars & went from a 2:07.5 lap time from last year to 2:03.1 this year. I beat 3 other beetles in my class, an Audi A4 turbo, Audi TT turbo, Nissan GTR (Godzilla) & 2 Nissan Skyline GTR's.
My car is a FULL street car, full interior, stereo, soundproofing etc. No lexan windows, all steel boby except for the wing, street tyres, no sticky rubber or slicks & pump gas, no race fuel (avgas). All I did was stick a No. on the side, thats it. Sorry for the bragging but I'm wrapped. regards Jak Rizzo Downunder |

Good job!
I was just having a discussion with my co-workers as to why you would ever want to 'dump' money into some old P.O.S. to try to beat real cars. I just showed some video of some drag racing and I'll now submit your racing reports and that should answer some of the questions. Thanks for proving it can be done and showing us the way Jak. It must feel good to be the underdog who's showing up obviously more expensive vehicles while still being able to putt around town. Keep having fun. |

Thanks for the comments guys. The track that it was on is the longest & fastest that we do & it normally doesn't suit the beetle very well as top end speed usually goes against me. But since I got rid of the 1303 gearbox & put in another with a 1.58 third & 1.04 4th it brings the engine on cam alot quicker. I was able to pull 6200rpm in top at the end of the straight whereas last year with the long gears I was only doing 5000rpm. With a K-8 it's really only coming into it's power band at 5 so to make it come on at mid straight makes a world of difference.
I've ordered some round port CNC heads in 42x37.5 valve sizes to replace my 40x35 040 heads just for a little more poke next year before I put the 82mm crank in & really freak the Porsche club out! I was going to put in lexan windows, get another set of wheels with slicks & rip all the interior out, but I really like it as a daily driver , comfortable street car, so it's going to have to stay as is. It's currently 890kg (1958pounds) & thats when I take the tool box out, spare tyre & half a tank of gas, so it's no lightweight. regards Jak |

Thats correct Joe, it's still for sale , but the 3 guys in the States interested in it wouldn't pay the $800 Australian to get it shipped over there, my GT2 spolier is still sitting here waiting to be finished off.
