944 brakes
I have a set of 944 brakes that I got on ebay a long time ago before I knew what to do with 'em. It was after I read a article in a VW mag on German Look Porsche killers and this lead to a knee jerk reaction. If anyone can tell me the process of using these bad boys, or if I just wasted money as I had expected please let me know.
Thanks, V3 |

What brakes are they? The early N/A 944 steel single piston slide calipers or the late 944 Turbo aluminum multi piston calipers?

944 brakes
I think that they are off a N/A model. I think the guy said that they came off a '84 model, maybe. I bought 'em 5 years ago and haven't looked at them since. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, sounds like you have the early single piston slide calipers (me to! )
I have fitted them onto a 1303 (74 super beetle), so i could share my experinces with you on that (although there is a welth of info with this setup on this site, ya just gotta search). What car is this going onto? (year, standard or super...ect) Jonathan

944 brakes
I have a '73 super. The brakes are almost certainly n/a derived. I was wondering if it would be better to just purchase a pre-machined set or to try and source some stuff off of ebay. I saw in one of the tech articles that Remmel offers a complete kit for standard bugs for $1500.00 USD. The other issue I am facing right now is that this is my daily driver. Do you think that it would be worth my time to put a kit together a little bit at a time as I am on a fairly tight budget at the moment. Thanks, V3

V3, Have you checked out vdubengineering.com? There's good info on the site for Porsche brakes. Sorry to cut in Super VW.

Sorry if my reply sounded cold wrenchnride247. Bub sounds a lot less sarcastic in person, lol. Daily speech patterns don't always translate well in written form. I really did mean that I was thankful for your input. I hope that you won't stop contributing to my questions over this misunderstanding. Check ya later, V3.
