It's been a long time...
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted here. The last time I posted (besides some recent classifides) was when I sold my GL 1302. I am happy to report that it went to a great new owner in New Jersey who is driving it and taking care of it just as I would.
The reason for its sale was to fund a HPDE/Racecar project that my Father and I have took on as our latest obsession. We decided on an purchased a 1980 Porsche 911 SC. It was basically stock except for PMO carbs, SSI's and a Monty muffler. and after quite a bit of work on our part and even more than that on the part of our mechanic and friend, Bill Rudtner, we turned it into this: 3.0L engine with PMO's, 10:1CR, worked heads, DC40 cams, SSI's, Monty muffler, MSD ignition, 993 headstuds. Dynoed at 255whp @ 6500rpm 6-point cage 6-point harnesses Cobra racing seats BIG front oil cooler Rennshift shifter 930 brakes all around Bilstein shocks brake cooling ducts Elephant racing suspension parts triangulated strut bar 16x7 16x8 Fuchs w. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 rubber and the list goes on and on We ran it like that for over a year, then we switched to 17x8 17x9 Kodiak racing wheels and Yokohama Advan A048 rubber in 225-45 & 255-40 But now that 3.0L is being shipped to England to make room for a monster of a motor. All I can tell you is it will be Haltech'd, ITB'd, and 3.8L in displacement, and it's all based on a 3.2 Carrera case. We're around at PCA, BMWCCA, and NASA events, so if you're out there, walk up and say hi!

You guys look to be having a BLAST!
That last pic, those rear tires look sooo stuffed! Bet you couldn't go a mil bigger back there! These pics remind me of how I got into aircooled to begin with.... I guy I went to high school with here local (looooong time ago ) has made quite a name for himself in the Pcar racing circles. His name is Pat Williams. Been featured in Excellence a few times, I think. Apparently he builds some crazy hp. Coincidentally, he sold me my very first aircooled VW about 11 years ago. Wish I could say he was a close friend that I keep in touch with, but we travel in completely different circles, his clients are pretty high end. Jeff-

you ain't kidding
we have to roll the fenders before next season, but the car will probably go widebody in the future. We mostly run with Metro NY, Conn. Valley & Riesentoter regions in the PCA. This season we are hoping to travel down to VIR as well as a return trip to The Glen. The last time we were there it was SOAKING wet, so it wasn't the best weekend. We missed out on running with BMWCCA last season for a multitude of reasons, but this season should work out better. At the BMW events I'll be running my New Beetle 1.8T. It's mostly a daily driver, but I've had it out at PCA and EMRA events. I'll be around on this board more often now, just to see how things are going in the GL world. I'll be posting about our exploits, so everyone will know where we're at. Just for fun, a pic of my H2O @ Lime Rock I've got a fair amount of mods on it, so it goes pretty well. And believe it or not, it's a 4-speed automatic! That doesn't mean it gets driven any easier, though I originally got it so I'd have a stock daily driver for city traffic, but that plan went out the window

It's nice to be back, even if I don't have a ACVW. I'll have another one day, so help me! I hope Charles Navarro reads this, since the P&C's for the 911 are coming from LN My Dad's been on the phone with him more than a few times in the past few weeks talking engines and whatnot. TWM 52mm ITB's Haltech setup Hopefully I'll get more pics soon of the engine coming together, especially those sexy Nikies & JE's

Those wheels look great, never heard of Kodiaks, why those? Light weight? Good price, strong?

Kodiaks are 3-piece custom wheels with all forged parts. They're very light and strong. Price is reasonable for a custom wheel, but not cheap. The only complaint we had was that they took a couple of months to get. We love them, and so do many other Porsche racers, as well as drivers of other marques. CCW wheels are also very popular with the late-model Porsche and Corvette crowd. They do custom 1 and 3-piece wheels. http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/ http://www.ccwheel.com/files/home.php

Thanks, very inexpensive for a custom forged wheel!!! HRE's aren't custom and they are $1500 a piece! I like the RT design too.

The Kodiak's are a great deal when compared to just about any other wheel out there. Their also very, VERY light. The 17x8 with the 225-45-17 Advan was not too much heavier than the 16x7 Fuch with 205-55-16 tire. To top it all off, their customer service is excellent and they will help you figure out exactly what you need. Today we stopped by our mechanic to say hi and see what's going on. The case, crank, & heads are at their respective machine shops getting their modifications done. Once they return, the engine can start to be built
