Cup-car info
To Oliver and other german enthusiasts;
I`ve been searching trough net for technical information of serious beetle-racers like Dr.Gerold, Klaus Rashig and other käfer-cup-like stuff...and the result is next to nothing. There is this one site that looked interesting http://home.t-online.de/home/UweH.Reuter/homepage.htm but it`s mostly in german of course. Think I`ll have to get a german dictionary from library.. So are there any sites, literature or other information sources you can recommend to me? I`m building my slowly progressing project for autoslalom or similar class for streetlegal viechiles. Justin |

I love the babelfish, as it translates like it is, without every sense! I never loughed so often about texts!
This is Mr.Holzapfels "Overfly" engine. It produces constant 245HP, even after many race rounds. It's a commonly build 2,9l Type 4, besides it has Porsche OHC heads, cutted and welded to 4 cylinder asp. and very nice rip runners to get the homebuild cams to work. An awesome engine, probably the best race engine ever build on the 4-cyl. boxer series of VW. I know only of one engine, that was running more technique. That was Kerscher's 16V 2,5l Waterboxer!

This must be Dr Gerolds alter ego! Its dirty,its cheap, Its only 2.4 , but it puts out over 300 ps.And a daily driver. Now running Electromotive 8 plug direct fire ignition. Oliver I thought the overfly had "custom cast" cam boxes? Or has there been a few engines built? I came across this one aswell Can anyone identify the block? |

My guess is that this is the ARPM case.

Any pics of radical chassis or suspension setup modifications?
I dont know why, but suspension geometry with exotic approaches fascinate me the most. And I think trough suspension upgrading you can improve performance the cheapest, at least when starting from stock. Justin |

Didn't Alex post the chassis pictures from the German shop MBT in the Gallery section? Take a look there!

I found only two pictures of an MBT-beetle from gallery. Either of them were not of chassis, allthough very nice ones.
Heres some new sites that I have found interesting: http://www.clubvw.org.au/dak_to_the_future.htm http://www.jprmotorsport.com/ That Australian racerproject seems to be very serious, but those pages lack pictures of it. And those Uniroyal Team Challenge look-alike beetles are just fakes but interesting indeed. Justin |
