there's a hole in the innerwing ;D. I am going for 6-7deg.caster, -1camber and 0 toe in/out.
![]() ![]() Inside of the innerwing, not much space there. ![]() And ofcourse I needed to test a wheel. ![]() ![]() Paul.

Unfortunately I had to little space to move the spindle up n down. after some internet searching, I found out that the golf1 inserts will fit the Porsche strut and is 2" shorter. so I bought a used set to test fit.
![]() if it fits I can shorten the complete strut by 2". Paul.

Point of no return (again)
![]() ![]() I had planned to use more of the Porsche innerwing, but I did not have enough space. Now I only used the upper shockmount and made it 5cm higher. When I find the correct position I will weld it in the innerwing. ![]() ![]() Paul.

Cool last pic Paul! If your shocks turn out to be worn, I have a set of gas-filled Golf-1 shocks for you ;-)

Today I started by fixating the front wheel (brakedisk) at the wright camber and caster.
![]() ![]() ![]() Made the innerwing mount to fit the innerwing, fixate everything again and made the first tackwelds. It's coming along just fine I think. ![]() ![]() Paul.

The above picture of the shock dome on the simple 0.8mm thick inner fender does raise the question (I am sure you expected this, but I'am willing to bite anyways) what further stiffening of the inner fender your planning? I know its not load bearing like with a 1303, but still the shock dampening creates considerable forces nontheless.

Wally,
Yes, the innerwing is deff. not strong enough. But the rollcage will solve that ![]() Cheers, Paul.

The horn bracket had to move, no suprise what was under there.
![]() So a little repair was needed. ![]() The right front suspension is ready (for now), so it's time to start doing it all again on the left side. ![]() ![]() Paul.

Change of plans. I wasn't happy with the A-arm mounts I made in the spare wheel well, so I took out the grinder and started all over again.
No way back now. ![]() ![]() Made a new spare wheel well bottom. I will make a lower part in the middle for the battery. ![]() ![]() ![]() Paul.

Today I copied the right A-arm mount to the left.
![]() Now it's time to weld it, grind it and weld it in place. Paul.

Wow! Any clarification why you made as you did?
Curious how it turns out. |
