'62 sc
Ok, It's been a while since I've posted anything of mine. So, now that I'm moving along with my new project...yes my GL bug is on hold (again) til this one is driving. I've tried to buy this SC for almost eight years! Well, May of 2013 I got my chance!
For now I just wanted to get it driving, but will be doing more rust repairs as I get time. It has some GL looking stuff going for it... though more on along the lines of "GL Ratlook" if there's such a name. Sitting in my drive making small talk with the wife's VW Getting busy cleaning For new beam And 944/'62 Hybrid spindles from Russell at Old Speed (sorry Lanner) For 944NA brakes that use ALL factory 944 parts. Well, that's the teaser for now. Will post up more soon!

Very cool SC. Can't wait to see it rolling down the road.

Looks great. What kind of welder are you using for the sheet metal repairs? I'm using a 220v mig with .025 wire and 75/25, and had a hard time butt welding my door sections using the metal clips in your pictures. Wasn't sure if it was just me, or if I needed a smaller mig w/ .023, or a tig. Tx!

I'm using a 110v 135 MIG from Hobart with .023 wire 75/25 mix. Try having more "stick out" on the wire out of the nozzle with the 220v. Practice on a scrap piece butted together with the clamps and start close with a tack weld. Then, start having more wire sticking out on the next tack and so on. You will find a length that puts just the right amount of heat/penetration that gives the best weld. On 20ga. and thinner you can really only tack to keep from blowing out or warping.

I ended up using a similar method, and had decent results, but wasn't 100% happy with it. I'm going to borrow a friend's Hobart 135 w/.023 to see if it is any easier. Appreciate it!
